Teeth Whitening in Oldbury and Birmingham
Whitening lifts the staining that builds up from coffee, tea, red wine and smoking. It works on the surface and shade of your natural teeth, and how much lighter you go depends on what is causing the discolouration in the first place.
What whitening will and will not change
Whitening works on natural tooth enamel. It will not change the colour of crowns, veneers, bridges or white fillings, so if you have work at the front, those will stay the shade they already are and can end up looking darker than the teeth around them.
Results vary from person to person. Staining from food, drink and smoking tends to respond better than discolouration that comes from inside the tooth. We would rather set that expectation before you book than afterwards.
How your appointment works
We look at the current shade, ask what is causing the staining, and check whether you have crowns, veneers or fillings at the front. Tell us about any sensitivity, and about any dental work or treatment you are currently having.
You sit back while the treatment is applied and left to work. Some clients feel a little sensitivity during or shortly afterwards. Say if you do, because it is easier to manage while you are still in the chair.
The first day or two matter most. Go easy on coffee, tea, red wine and anything strongly coloured, because teeth pick up stain more readily straight after treatment.
Teeth gems
Teeth gems are small crystals fixed to the surface of a tooth. Nothing is drilled and nothing is removed, so the gem sits on the enamel rather than in it. We offer both a short term option for an event and a longer term one.
They are removable, which is the point. If you want to change it or take it off, come back to us rather than picking at it yourself.

Teeth Whitening and Gems
No. Whitening changes natural enamel only. Crowns, veneers, bridges and white fillings stay the shade they already are, so if you have work at the front it can end up looking darker than the teeth around it. We check for this at consultation.

Some clients notice sensitivity during or shortly after treatment, and it usually settles. Tell us if your teeth are already sensitive, and say something during the appointment rather than sitting through it.
