How To Choose a Lip Filler Practitioner You Can Trust
The single most important factor in avoiding duck lips is not the product used. It is the person holding the syringe.
Here is what to look for before you book anywhere.
Verified certification and real experience.
Your practitioner should be able to tell you clearly what qualifications they hold, how long they have been performing lip treatments, and how many they carry out regularly. A practitioner who is actively working in the industry, not just trained in it, has the hands-on experience that theory alone cannot replicate.
A consultation that listens before it recommends.
A practitioner worth trusting will ask about your goals before they reach for a product. They will look at your full face, not just your lips, and they will tell you honestly what they can achieve and how. The best practitioners assess the face as a whole, even when treating a single area, because every decision is made in context.
Evidence of natural results.
Ask to see before-and-after photographs of real clients, not stock imagery. Look for results that are subtle and proportionate. If a practitioner’s portfolio is full of dramatically oversized lips, that tells you something important about their aesthetic goals.
The option to dissolve.
Lip filler made from hyaluronic acid can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you are unhappy with your result. Any reputable practitioner should be able to offer or refer you for this if needed. It is a safety net that gives you control over your outcome, and it is one of the reasons hyaluronic acid-based fillers are the preferred choice for lips.
At Empire Medical Clinic, all of these are standard. Our team of eight certified professionals brings over 20 years of combined experience across aesthetics. Every appointment begins with a consultation that puts your goals, not a predetermined treatment plan, at the centre of the conversation.
Lip Filler Aftercare: What To Do In the First 48 Hours
A few simple steps in the days after your treatment will help your result settle well and reduce any swelling as quickly as possible.
Avoid pressing or massaging the treated area in the first 24 hours. Stay hydrated, as hyaluronic acid binds to water and your lips will benefit from it. Avoid exposure to extreme heat, including saunas, sunbeds, and very hot showers, for at least 24 hours after treatment. If you have any swelling, a cool compress held gently against the lips can help.
Strenuous exercise is best avoided on the day of treatment. Your practitioner will talk you through any specific aftercare relevant to your appointment.
